About the position
Psybergate is an IT company that builds bespoke software solutions and provides highly skilled resources to its clients.
We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our financial services client in Sandton on a 12-month contract role. What you will be doing:
- Perform deep-dive analysis across diverse datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and business opportunities
- Translate business and project requirements into actionable data solutions and insights
- Manage and deliver multiple ad hoc reporting requests with accuracy and relevance
- Design and maintain scalable data models to support analytics and reporting
- Understand and manage end-to-end data flows, from source systems to reporting layers
- Develop and optimise data pipelines and integrations using modern development practices
- Work with enterprise databases including IBM DB2, Oracle, Netezza, and SQL Server to extract, transform, and analyse data
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical specifications and reporting frameworks
- Create dashboards and reports using Power BI and advanced MS Excel techniques
- Support AI/ML initiatives by preparing data and contributing to model development and deployment
- Apply strong analytical thinking to solve complex business problems and generate insights
- Document data logic, methodologies, and findings for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Manage workload independently, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs
- Communicate insights and technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders
What we are looking for:
- Relevant degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years’ experience in data analytics, software development, and systems architecture
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R
- Extensive experience working with enterprise databases (DB2, Oracle, Netezza, SQL Server)
- Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and system design principles
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, model lifecycle, and data preparation
- Advanced skills in MS Excel (pivot tables, formulas, macros)
- Experience with Power BI for data visualisation and reporting
- Exposure to tools such as Tableau or similar is advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business teams
