Power BI Developer

About the position

My client based in Cape Town is currently looking for a Power BI Developer to join their team on a contract basis.

IT / FINANCE

Skills & Experience

• Extensive, hands-on experience with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, dashboards, and report development)
• Proven ability to build reporting systems from the ground up
• Strong proficiency in Python for maintaining and supporting existing code
• Solid understanding of data architecture, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts
• Experience working with large and complex datasets
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Experience with.NET technologies (C#, ASP.NET, or related frameworks)
• Ability to step into a secondary/support role when needed within the broader technical team

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement a scalable, independent reporting system using Power BI
• Create interactive dashboards and reports that provide meaningful business insights
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Maintain and support existing reporting and data processes during the transition period
• Utilize Python to manage, maintain, and enhance legacy codebases
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and performance across reporting solutions
• Assist in the migration from legacy systems to the new reporting platform
