About the position

Our client is seeking a highly experienced, technically versatile Data Analyst who combines deep analytical expertise with strong system design and development skills. This role is ideal for someone who is curious, self-driven, and comfortable operating across data analytics, data engineering, and AI/ML readiness. You will work with complex datasets, modern data platforms, and enterprise database systems to deliver insights, scalable models, and business intelligence solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct deep-dive analysis across large and diverse datasets to uncover trends, anomalies, and business opportunities.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable data insights and analytical solutions.
  • Respond to and manage multiple ad hoc reporting requests with accuracy and clarity.

Data Architecture & Modelling

  • Understand end-to-end data flows from source systems to reporting layers.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models supporting analytics and reporting.
  • Document methodologies, data logic, and findings for technical and non-technical audiences.

Technical Development & Data Engineering

  • Develop and optimise ETL pipelines and data integrations using modern development practices.
  • Work with enterprise databases such as IBM DB2, Oracle, Netezza (NZ), and SQL Server for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Support AI/ML initiatives by preparing high-quality datasets and contributing to model development.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Reporting

  • Liaise with business stakeholders to convert needs into technical specifications and reporting frameworks.
  • Build dashboards and visualisations using Power BI for effective stakeholder reporting.
  • Utilise advanced MS Excel techniques (pivot tables, complex formulas, macros) to support analysis and reporting.

Work Management

  • Manage priorities and deliver high-quality work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years’ experience in data analytics, software development, or systems architecture.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R.
  • Expertise with enterprise databases: DB2, Oracle, Netezza, SQL Server.
  • Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and system design principles.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and data readiness for modelling.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to bridge business and technical contexts.
  • Strong MS Excel skills (advanced formulas, macro/VBA, pivot tables).
  • Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Additional analytics/BI tool experience (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
