Suyana Uganda Country Coordinator (100%)

The position is based in Kampala and involves frequent travel within the country and occasional travel in the region. About Suyana Foundation The Suyana Foundation is a Swiss non-profit organization founded in 2003. We design and implement long term, integrated development programmes in Bolivia and Peru and collaborate with trusted local partners in Africa, Switzerland, and beyond. Suyana began its engagement in Africa in 2021 and currently supports several partner-led initiatives, primarily in Rwanda and Uganda. In Uganda, we currently support three projects implemented by local partners, promoting community empowerment through a holistic approach across health, livelihoods, and education. As part of our ambition to strengthen Suyana’s presence in East Africa, particularly in Rwanda and Uganda, we are currently assessing the establishment of a formal local presence in Uganda. This approach allows Suyana to deepen its long-term impact by engaging strategically with government institutions and key stakeholders and by progressively implementing Suyana led activities alongside continued collaboration with existing and potential local partners, where this best serves communities. Until Suyana has established its own office presence, the position will be based in a shared open workspace with a trusted local company in Kampala. Position Summary In close collaboration with the HQ team and the Regional Programmes Manager based in Kampala, the Uganda Country Coordinator contributes to context analyses and supports the development of Suyana’s country programme in line with local and regional needs, as well as Ugandan government and Suyana priorities. The role involves active engagement with key stakeholders across government, public authorities, and the private sector, and, where appropriate, supporting the practical establishment of Suyana’s operational base in Uganda, including legal registration and setup. In addition, the Country Coordinator accompanies and supports local implementing partners,supports the coordination of project implementation and follow up, ensures compliance with Suyana policies and national regulations, and provides hands on financial oversight. The Uganda Country Coordinator will support the Regional Programmes Manager in developing the local network as well as make sure we are constantly updated with the current context in order to take the best decisions possible. Subject to organisational development, successful registration, programme growth, and demonstrated capacity in the role, the position may evolve into a Country Representative function over time.
