Job Title: Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer Location: Remote. 20% travel to communities in the Lwengo District. Reports to: Executive Director Employment Type: Part-Time Eligibility: This position is open to Ugandan citizens or individuals who already have the legal right to live and work in Uganda. Rooted Wisdom Africa is unable to sponsor work permits for this role. About Rooted Wisdom Africa Rooted Wisdom Africa is dedicated to empowering communities in rural Uganda through sustainable agriculture, women’s enterprise programs, and youth education. Our programs integrate hands-on learning, income generation, and skill development to drive long-term impact. Position Summary The M&E Officer will lead the design, implementation, and management of monitoring and evaluation systems across all Rooted Wisdom Africa programs. This role ensures data-driven decision-making, measures program outcomes, and communicates impact to stakeholders and funders. Key Responsibilities MEL System Design and Implementation Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools, and processes for all programs. Establish clear data collection systems aligned with program goals and donor requirements. Data Collection and Analysis and Learning Collect, analyze, and report quantitative and qualitative data to track program progress and impact. Lead real-time analysis of program monitoring data to support adaptive management during program implementation. Assist in program design by providing evidence-based recommendations for improvements. Reporting and Communication Prepare high quality regular reports and presentations for donors, board members, and community stakeholders. Ensure data quality, integrity, and timely reporting for internal use and external stakeholders. Translate complex data into clear, compelling impact narratives. Capacity Building and Quality Assurance Support program staff in data collection, reporting, and interpretation of results. Ensure data quality, consistency and integrity across all programs. Train staff and volunteers on M&E best practices, processes and tools. Stay updated on best practices in monitoring and evaluation, including new methods, indicators, and technology tools. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Economics, or related field. Master’s preferred. 3+ years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in the nonprofit or international development sector. Strong understanding of M&E frameworks, logical frameworks, tools, theories of change, performance indicators, and methodologies. Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and visualization (Excel, SPSS, Stata, or similar). Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Luganda. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and community stakeholders. Must be based in Uganda and have the legal right to live and work in Ugan
