Job Title: Logistics Executive Department: Supply Chain / Operations Reports To: Operations Manager Location: Mukono Namataba Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Logistics Executive to manage and coordinate end-to-end logistics, customs clearance, and cargo operations. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of international trade procedures, customs regulations, and freight forwarding processes, with hands-on experience in digital customs systems, including URA BWIMS and Mermidon systems. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee import and export shipments from origin to final destination. Manage customs clearance processes in compliance with national and regional regulations. Operate and process documentation through URA Digital Systems (BWIMS) and Mermidon System . Ensure accurate preparation and submission of shipping documentation (Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificates of Origin, etc.). Liaise with freight forwarders, clearing agents, transporters, suppliers, and regulatory authorities. Monitor cargo movement and resolve shipment delays or discrepancies. Ensure compliance with EAC customs procedures and international trade regulations . Manage inventory movements and coordinate with warehouse teams. Negotiate freight rates and manage relationships with logistics service providers. Maintain proper records and documentation for audits and regulatory inspections. Prepare logistics performance reports and cost analysis. Ensure adherence to company policies and supply chain best practices. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics, or related field . Minimum of 36 months (3 years) proven experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or customs clearance operations. Required Certifications Certification in EACFFPC (East African Community Freight Forwarding and Customs Procedures) . Certification in Customs Clearance . Certification in Import/Export Management . Technical Competencies Hands-on experience with URA Digital Systems (BWIMS) . Experience working with Mermidon System (highly desirable). Strong knowledge of: International trade regulations Freight forwarding processes Customs documentation and tariff classification Cargo handling and shipment coordination Incoterms and trade compliance Key Skills & Attributes Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent negotiation and communication abilities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong organizational and coordination skills.
