Senior Back End Developer
Description
We are working with a new, fully remote market maker on prediction markets, funded by a tier 1 operator to build next-generation trading systems, leveraging huge industry IP & resources from the tier 1 operator. The founding team includes true industry veterans with a vision for the future. They are building a lean, fully remote, senior team focused on high-performance systems, pragmatic engineering, and rapid iteration. They are looking for a Senior Back End Developer to design and build exchange gateways, trading strategies, and supporting services that power the prediction market trading platform. Responsibilities:
- Build low-latency C#/.NET services for market data, order routing, and risk.
- Use Python for tooling, data prep, and automation (non-hot path).
- Integrate with Kafka, Redis, and Postgres for resilient, high-performance systems.
- Model prediction market domains (instruments, orders, fills, risk, P&L).
- Develop exchange gateways (FIX for orders, WebSocket for market data, REST for reference data) with strong fault tolerance.
- Maintain high code quality via testing, reviews, and documentation.
- Partner cross-functionally, ensure observability, and participate in on-call. Requirements:
- 7+ years backend experience, strong in C#/.NET.
- Solid Python skills.
- Expertise in concurrency, streaming/event-driven, data-intensive systems.
- Experience with Kafka (or similar), Redis, Postgres.
- Fluency in FIX, WebSocket, and REST (deep FIX a plus).
- Ownership mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and enthusiasm for AI tools. Domain Experience (Required):
- Sports betting, financial markets, or prediction markets experience—or demonstrated independent depth in these areas. Nice to Have:
- Front-end/real-time UI exposure.
- Risk, market-making, or quant research experience.
- Performance profiling and GC tuning for low-latency systems.
