Main Inspector (Huvudbesiktningsman)

Background

The project involves the design, construction, and commissioning of industrial facilities with multiple contractors operating under AB/ABT-based contracts.

To comply with contractual requirements and safeguard the Client’s interests, an independent Main Inspector shall be appointed to plan, lead, and execute inspections according to the applicable regulations and contract provisions.

Objective of the Assignment

Ensure that all contractual inspections are performed in compliance with AB/ABT requirements. Confirm that works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Provide independent, impartial assessments of the condition and completeness of the works. Document all inspection results and ensure proper follow-up until all deficiencies are rectified.

Scope of Work

General Responsibilities

The Main Inspector shall:

Be formally appointed by the Client as Huvudbesiktningsman.

Plan, coordinate, and perform inspections in accordance with AB 04 / ABT 06 and the project’s inspection schedule. Coordinate the works with the quality inspection team provided by PMC under the Client organization. Lead inspection activities together with the Client, contractors, and any Sub-Inspectors. Ensure all stakeholders are informed in due time of inspection plans and requirements. Maintain independence and impartiality at all times.

Inspections Included

The scope includes, but is not limited to:

Pre-inspections (Förbesiktning), Final inspections (Slutbesiktning), Follow-up inspections (Efterbesiktning), Warranty inspections (Garantibesiktning), Re-inspections (Återbesiktning). Any partial or special inspections as required by the Client or contract.

Deliverables

The Main Inspector shall deliver:

Overall inspection plan and detailed plans if needed, including resource plan. Formal inspection protocols (Besiktningsutlåtanden) in accordance with AB/ABT requirements. Deficiency lists and follow-up documentation until closure. Final summary report upon project completion.

Documentation and Communication

All documentation shall be provided in both editable and signed PDF formats. Communication shall be coordinated with the Client’s project organization. The Main Inspector shall report any observed non-conformities or safety issues immediately to the Client.

Competence and Qualification Requirements

Proven experience as Huvudbesiktningsman for industrial or large-scale construction projects in Sweden. Comprehensive knowledge of AB 04 / ABT 06 and Swedish construction law. Necessary professional certification. Technical background (civil, mechanical, electrical, or similar). Strong communication skills in Swedish and English. Ability to work independently and manage complex inspection processes.

Duration and Schedule

The assignment is expected to commence in [Feb-March 2026] and continue through the completion of all final and warranty inspections.

The detailed inspection plan will be coordinated with the Client upon contract award.

Reporting and Interfaces

The Main Inspector shall report directly to the Client’s Sr Construction Manager and coordinate closely with:

• description of how the inspections will be planned and executed. Commercial Offer
• fee proposal (hourly rates and/or fixed prices per inspection), reimbursable costs, and total estimate. References
• at least two relevant references from comparable projects.
